J&J Unit’s Spray Sunscreen Deal Gets Challenged as ‘Upside

A Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. aerosol sunscreen class deal that provides up to $1.75 million worth of vouchers is an “upside-down” settlement that should be thrown out, an objector told a federal appeals court.

The plaintiffs’ attorneys received $2.6 million, but the class got coupons with a face value of $1.75 million—less than half of which will likely be redeemed, Theodore H. Frank told the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in a brief Wednesday.
